Writer's Thoughts about English & the Web

We need proper English that describes and tells the story of our businesses and organizations.

We can have lots of nice images and artistic layouts, but it's the content's accuracy and readability that finally sells products and services.

Without proper English writing, which is the barebones that supports the content—we have only words and messy copy. Correct grammar, clarity, variety, appropriate words, all the barebone details—support content and make it meaningful. Yes, really!

Have you ever read a webpage and then suddenly an extraneous “a” or “but” or “to” appears? What about the missing "s" at the end of a word which is meant to be plural? I see many words without spaces between them on websites too. As a writer, all of those messy critters bug me. Only the human eye can proofread and catch the undeleted, alphabetical critters. So if Content is King, then Proofreading has to be Queen!

I guarantee my websites are backed by 100% proofreading and proper English writing!

Announcement for website designers: I am in the process of forming a local web group in Lafayette and the surrounding area. Time and location to be determined. Most likely meetings will be held at the Tippcanoe County Library or the Ivy Tech Community College Library. If you are a sole proprietor, a freelance webDesigner, or if you are the web maintenance person for a site, you may want to think about joining the group. First meeting to be held Spring 2010. Please contact me if you have an interest and would like to discuss the group.
